22-Day Mega Tour: Rajasthan & South India

22-Day Mega Tour: Rajasthan & South India

This is an epic plan! Combining the desert forts and heritage of Rajasthan with the lush, tropical hills and coastal serenity of South India in a single trip is the perfect way to experience the vast diversity of the country.

Start: Delhi
Segment 1: Rajasthan Heritage Circuit (10 Days)
Transition: Internal Flight (Jaipur/Jodhpur to Bengaluru/Mysuru) (1 Day)
Segment 2: South India Spice & Coast Circuit (11 Days)
End: Kochi (Cochin).

Itinerary

  • Part 1: Rajasthan's Royal Circuit (Days 1–10)
Arrive in Delhi. Bike Acquisition: Pick up your pre-booked bike (Royal Enfield is recommended) from a rental agency. Short test ride.
The Ride Begins. Head out of the Delhi/NCR chaos towards Rajasthan. Arrive in Mandawa (Shekhawati region), famous for its beautifully painted Havelis (mansions).
Ride through the semi-arid plains. Visit Junagarh Fort in Bikaner, a massive 16th-century fortress that was never conquered.
The Desert Ride. A long, fast stretch on excellent highway toward the Thar Desert. Arrive at the spectacular "Golden City".
(India's only 'living fort'). Afternoon: Ride out to Sam Sand Dunes for a sunset camel safari and a desert cultural stay.
Ride eastward. Arrive in the "Blue City." Visit the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort, which offers panoramic views of the blue houses below.
A scenic ride through the Aravalli Hills. Stop to visit the stunning Ranakpur Jain Temple en route. Arrive in Udaipur, the "City of Lakes."
Rest Day. Explore the City Palace, take a sunset boat ride on Lake Pichola, and enjoy the beautiful rooftop cafes.
Ride north. Visit the sacred town of Pushkar, famous for the Holy Lake and the only Brahma Temple in the world.
Short, final ride to Jaipur. Bike Drop-off at the rental agency in Jaipur. Prepare for the flight.
    Part 2: Travel & Transition (Day 11)

Fly from Jaipur to Bengaluru (via a connecting flight, usually). This leap skips thousands of kilometers of less-scenic highway riding. Transfer to Mysore/Srirangapatna.
Part 3: South India's Spice & Coast Circuit (Days 12–22)

This segment focuses on the dense forests, high Ghats, and backwaters of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, ending at the Arabian Sea.

Bike Acquisition: Pick up your second pre-booked bike in Bengaluru or Mysore. Sightseeing: Visit the majestic Mysore Palace in the afternoon.
Ghat Ride. Ride through the Bandipur/Mudumalai Tiger Reserves (take caution with wildlife). Climb the winding mountain road to Ooty, the "Queen of Hill Stations."
A long but beautiful ride through the rolling Nilgiri Hills of Tamil Nadu. Kodaikanal offers wooded slopes and serene lakes.
Tea Country. Descend and then ascend into Kerala. This is one of the most scenic days, riding through vast, manicured tea plantations of the Cardamom Hills.
Rest Day. Explore the highest tea estates. Visit a tea factory, ride to Top Station, or simply enjoy the cool, misty climate.
Spice Route. Short ride through spice estates (cardamom, pepper). Take an afternoon spice plantation tour in Thekkady.
Descend the Ghats towards the Arabian Sea. The journey ends at the dramatic Varkala Cliffs, one of Kerala's most picturesque coastal spots.
Rest Day. Relax on the beach, get an Ayurvedic massage, or enjoy the sunset from the cliff-top cafes.
A coastal road ride north. Park the bike and check into a Houseboat for an overnight cruise through the famous Kerala Backwaters.
Short, final ride to the historic city of Kochi. Check into a heritage stay in Fort Kochi. Explore the Chinese fishing nets and colonial architecture.
Bike Drop-off at the agency in Kochi. Transfer to Cochin International Airport (COK) for your onward journey.

Essential Logistics & Touring Notes

Bike Rental: Since you are flying internally, you will need to book two separate rentals: one starting in Delhi/Jaipur and ending in Jaipur, and a second starting in Bengaluru/Mysuru and ending in Kochi. Companies like Royal Enfield Rentals, Royal Brothers, or local tour operators can manage this.
Best Time to Visit: October to March. This avoids the intense summer heat of Rajasthan and the heavy monsoon rains of South India.
Motorcycle: A Royal Enfield Classic 350/500 or the Himalayan is the standard and most reliable choice for both regions' mixed terrains.
Flight: Book the Jaipur (JAI) to Bengaluru (BLR) or Jodhpur (JDH) to Bengaluru (BLR) flight well in advance to ensure a smooth transition on Day 11.
